We started 2015 the best way a big band possibly can .... working! New Year's Eve at the Pittsboro Roadhouse was a swinging affair by any measure. This fine room is reminiscent of the smaller Las Vegas Showrooms of the 50's or the intimate Manhattan clubs of the same era. Its a romantic setting with outstanding food and drink and a fine swinging big band (US! ) on the stand. What a great way to start the year.
In late December we warmed up for this event with a fun road gig in Wilmington for a private party. Then it was on to the RoadHouse for New Year's Eve, welcoming 2015 in fine style.
On January 16 and 17 it was "Big Band Weekend" at the magnificent Grove Park Inn, North Carolina's oldest and most famous resort. We consider it a huge honor to have played this magnicent setting three times in recent years.. This time we were on the bill with Bill Tole and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and the past two times we were on the bill with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
The video below was taken on our first visit to Grove Park. It is like entering a time warp at the height of the big band era. There is no bigger thrill for a big band than a huge ballroom with nearly a thousand people dancing. Rather than take our word for it, we invite you to have a look for yourself.
