The View from the Bandstand

One great thing about playing for wedding receptions is the abundance of beautiful women. The bride and bridesmaids are usually simply outstanding and of course we musicians are known to appreciate great beauty when we see it. Lauren, our wonderful “girl singer” is herself an outstanding beauty in her own right. As a former Miss America contestant she can lay claim to at least one year of being one of the fifty most beautiful women in America.

After all this background we take you now to the NC Revelers bandstand at a recent wedding. Lauren was standing next to the stand waiting to go onstage and suddenly she noticed the saxophonists ... all of them... the ENTIRE section...doing a slow left turn while playing away on the music. While Lauren is fairly used to this behavior it usually has to do with the saxophonists watching HER as she does her “runway walk”onto the bandstand.

In this case the swivel necks were tracking someone else as a stunning blonde in a very abbreviated “little black dress” undulated her way in front of the band. The funniest part of the whole scene was watching Lauren watch the saxes  watch the girl. And not a single note was missed ... now that is "professional".
